King David, often referred to as Great, has been brought to my mind in lots of ways in recent weeks.

There is no doubt that he had and did a lot of positive things as a shepherd, musician, leader of men, general and more but there can be no doubt that he got things wrong.

His military exploits if carried out today would surely lead to charges of genocide and this whole concept of wiping out peoples in the Old Testament remains a great struggle to me as do so many of the Psalms that start so positive and then call on God to wipe out his enemies.

However the part of his life that has been to the forefront of my mind is that recorded in 2 Samuel 11 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+samuel+11&version=NIVUK

It is suggested that Psalm 51 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+51&version=NIVUK

was written by David as was written by David as he recognised the wrongs he had done and repented of his sins and that Psalm 32 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+32&version=NIVUK

was written to express his joy at the forgiveness of joy.

You may like to try reading these 3 passages one after the other.
