Weeds or a thing of beauty?

Weeds or a thing of beauty.

A few days ago I was out for a walk which I do every day not primarily for the enjoyment but rather to strengthen my legs and stamina after surgery.I went along a road that I do not often use and found myself looking at a row of dandelions probably 12 to 15 feet long growing in the gutter along the side of the road.

I have some difficulties with colours but yellow registers withy me very powerfully. I found the sight quite breathtakingly beautiful. As I continued in my walk I wondered how many people seeing the same thing may have wondered why those weeds had not been removed.

The same view but a very different perspective.

It brought to mine some words that I had written a few years back. They were written in response to a throwaway line from a friend who had mentioned God and then immediately commented that he did not believe in him

What do you think?

  1. When I open my eyes, what do I see?
A wide range of colour, of shape and shade
Even the simple view in front of me
Says to my mind that it must have been made.
  2. A view full of beauty before my eyes
Is it by accident or by design?
As I deliberate, it just seems wise
To see a creator in work so fine.
  3. It’s not just the beauty of what’s been made
But built in us are the senses to know
The huge variety that can invade
our mind, so appreciation can grow.
  4. Just the one sense is enough to persuade
my mind of an amazing creation.
We then add in touch, taste, smell, and sound made
Then an accident seems a strange notion
  5. As well as the physical senses known
We add in love, both received and given
and so, each day my conviction has grown
of a loving creator in heaven
